Palawan is considered to be the world’s best island according to the Travel + Leisure Award and has been reaping the award three times in 2013, 2016 and 2017.
On top of these awards, Palawan has also earned Best Islands in the World Award by the Conde Nast Travelers based on its survey of its 2017 Reader’s Choice Awards.
With these internationally acclaimed recognitions, the Island Province’s hotels and resorts have to ensure that they are fully equipped with safety and security management systems to avert any possible threats to their occupants, guests, and visitors.
To address these risks, a two-day Seminar on Occupational Safety and Security for Hotels and Resorts was held at the Hue Hotel, Puerto Princesa City, which was attended by several participants coming from different hotels, resorts and related establishments in the province last February 8-9, 2018.
“We cater to the needs of the hotels and resorts in Palawan to make sure that they are fully aware of their health and safety management system, to create one if they still don’t have it, and to curb any threats to their facilities through this seminar,” said Vince Ligtas, Sales and Marketing Officer of Petrosphere Incorporated.
Resource speakers were experts in the hotel and resort safety and security management who discussed topics to provide all the necessary skills and knowledge on the covered modules to the attendees: crime, terrorism, health, natural disasters and man-made hazards.
Speakers were Dr. Nestor O. Olarte, an expert on Corporate Safety, Security, and Emergency Management, with Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice and Doctor of Philosophy in Criminology, and Engr. Harthwell C. Capistrano, a DOLE Accredited Safety Practitioner, with expertise in Health, Safety, and Environment.
Petrosphere is a Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) accredited Safety Training Organization, which is the first and only provider in MIMAROPA, specifically in Puerto Princesa City.
The same seminar will be conducted in El Nido, Boracay, and Iloilo in the next few months.
