Firefighter now a safety supervisor

Firefighter now a safety supervisor

He never thought that he would become a safety supervisor, as for him, he is already working with a very stable job in the government as a firefighter.

According to him, everything is new and unusual. He faced a lot of major adjustments, from a “probinsayano” to a “professional.” He added that the transition was beyond his expectation. “I thought it would be easy, but it’s really tough especially when you are at its initial stage. However, one thing I am certain with, I’ve made the right decision. Every day, I learn and this is the job I have been praying for,” he said.

Riggi Cabaltera is now a safety supervisor at Teleperformance Philippines, one of the leading BPO companies in the country, monitoring 18 sites nationwide with nearly 40,000 employees.

“The highlight of my job is fire life safety hence maintaining a risk-free workplace for all TP employees. Moreover, we also conduct a thorough investigation in safety-related incident/accident/near miss and prepare reports.”

Riggi confirms that certificates played a big role for his quick employment in his present career. “I was hired through a phone call interview and they relied only on the resume attached on my Jobstreet account. Everything went smooth and easy,” he said.

Most of the training certifications Riggi had were from the Petrosphere and these are very helpful to secure his job. These training courses served as his benchmark in pursuing safety career.

“Actually, I’ve also tried attending other safety training and seminars in Manila, but their instructors are not as good as the ones in Petrosphere. I mean, some of them may be consultants, but they are not as effective and efficient as what Petrosphere has,” Riggi said.

“To Petrosphere Hse Centre, thank you for continuously letting me avail discount in your training courses. Thank you for guiding me in my chosen career and for the quick revert whenever I need advises and references. May your company be blessed and expand in the succeeding years.”

Riggi is a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering in March 2013, Palawan State University, Bgy. Tiniguiban, Puerto Princesa City, and is a Registered Electrical Engineer and Registered Master Electrician.

To those who are first timers and are job seekers, Riggi has a very good advice: “First, have faith in God. In everything, you do always seek assistance from God. Second, follow your passion. If this is your first job, do not aim for a high salary. Equip yourself first then your desired salary will follow. Sometimes money misleads us in achieving our goal. Lastly, keep yourself always determined and motivated.”
